Sapphire glass generally refers to synthetic sapphire, which is very different from natural sapphire commonly understood as jewelry. Generally used for manufacturing mirrors, window panels, etc., with high requirements. Protective observation windows, with the reduction of synthesis costs and the increasing application market, are gradually being applied in fields such as photography, beauty equipment, and instrument protection windows.Sapphire lensesIt is an ideal semiconductor substrate material and widely used in optical and electronic devices, LEDs, SoS RF integrated circuits, and optical applications.
How to use and store sapphire optical components
1. Try to use it in a clean, low dust environment. Due to the contamination of oil on hands or skin, dust-free gloves or finger cots should be worn during handling, and direct contact with the surface is prohibited.
2. Under normal circumstances, it is stable, but if exposed to high temperatures and humidity for a long time, the surface may become blurry. Regular inspection or replacement is required for use under these conditions.
3. When not in use for a long time, it should be stored in a dry and clean container.
4. If there is dust on the surface, it will be burned when exposed to high-intensity laser, making it impossible to remove stains on the surface of the component. Therefore, to prevent dust from adhering to the optical surface when not in use, it is recommended to cover it and place it in a box. Additionally, before use, it is recommended to use a clean compressed air tank or a cleaner to remove dust from it.
Sapphire lenses are composed of aluminum oxide (Al2O3), which is covalently bonded by three oxygen atoms and two aluminum atoms. Its crystal structure is a hexagonal lattice structure, which can work under harsh conditions close to 2000 ℃. Therefore, it is widely used in infrared military devices, high-intensity laser lens materials, and photomask materials; Its unique lattice structure, excellent mechanical properties, and good thermal performance make sapphire crystals commonly used as materials for optoelectronic devices. Typically, GaN based materials and epitaxial layers of devices are mainly grown on sapphire substrates.
